PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Mechanical design activities in a market driven fast-paced LED product development environment.
* Participate in defining product specifications, Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design Freeze, Design Validation, Product & Process Qualification
* Utilize Mechanical Engineering tools (SolidWorks) and business productivity tools to develop prototype and production solutions. Translate functional specifications into mechanical design requirements.
* Mentor other Mechanical Engineers within global team in design and drawing techniques. Work with engineering team to meet program objectives including performance, scheduling and cost.
* Use best practices and accepted Product Design Development (PDD) process to assure success of assigned project, Perform Tolerance Analysis on product designs.
* Maintain drawing/documentation vault and drawing revision levels.
* Support procurement team in vendor evaluation for technical and cost issues. Interface with vendors to assure compliance to drawing and product specifications, Quality Control documentation and support Advance Quality Planning activities.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
* BS/MS in mechanical engineering/optical Engineering/Electro-Mechanical engineering.
* Maintain and improve skills in the face of rapidly evolving technology.
* Minimum 3 years engineering experience with demonstrated capabilities in 3D CAD design and tolerance analysis.
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and statistical data-driven skills an absolute necessity. Excellent interpersonal/facilitation skills; strong verbal and written communications skills in Chinese and English.
* Self motivated; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direction.
* Problem solver- must have experience in translating customer/marketing requirements into technical specifications.
* Proven leadership qualities; ability to provide quick-turn solutions and creative conceptualization.
* Previous design experience with electronics packaging, plastics injection molding, sheet metal, extrusions and metal stamping.
Knowledge of materials engineering a definite plus.
Desired:
* SolidWorks, ProEngineer, or equivalent 3D modeling software experience.
* Strong commercial/customer relationship experience
* Lighting fixture design experience.
* Manufacturing experience with high assembly processes highly preferred.
* Experience designing and launching products from concept to launch.
* Commercialization of new products (channel to market development).
* Understanding of Supply Chain logistics.
* Individual must be a self-starter, creative and strategic thinker who knows how to work in a high energy environment |
